BetMania Sports could definitely do a better job of offering a user friendly and aesthetically pleasing website to their clients. The landing page looks fine, with big graphics dominating the centre of the screen, and the link to the sportsbook, casino etc. located across a horizontal menu bar, but once the sportsbook has been entered, then things go downhill somewhat.

The column with the odds and markets in is narrow and that means that everything needs to be fairly cramped. The list of sports is on the left hand side of the page, and there is a scroller within the main page, so customers can’t see all of the sports and markets available without moving the mouse around the page. The list of sports are all in capitals and when clicking on a sport, the sub-markets and events are listed in all lower case. Although this doesn’t affect functionality, it does look unprofessional. Definitely room for improvement when it comes to the website.

Bonuses

BetMania have several promotions for clients, with some really lucrative sign up bonuses. Their biggest concession is the 200% sign up bonus. To qualify for the bonus, customers must deposit $100 or more (the maximum free play reward is $3000). Credit card and bitcoin deposits do not qualify for the promotion and there is a 16 x deposit + bonus turnover requirement, with a 2 week hold period.

In addition to the 200% bonus, there is also the option for new customers to sign up for a 150% or 125% sign up bonus. The lower the bonus, the lower the rollover requirement – so it may be attractive to those clients who don’t want to have bet so much in order to release the bonus.

On top of the regular sign up bonuses, BetMania Sports also have regular reload concessions and ad hoc promotions throughout the week.

Sports Markets & Odds

BetMania have a limited number of sports for customers to bet on, but they cover all of the major events and disciplines that are popular in North America. Basketball, baseball, hockey, American football, soccer, tennis, golf, boxing, MMA, cricket and cycling make up the list.

At the time of review, it is NBA Finals, and the odds for the Golden State Warriors v Cleveland Cavaliers were available. BetMania offered odds on the spread (handicap), total points and moneyline, with all three of these different markets compiling to within 104-105% (the closer to 100%, the better the odds for customers) – margins which are definitely competitive when looking industry wide for basketball. On top of odds for the matches in the NBA, BetMania also price up other events relating to the sport, such as season MVP, first round draft pick etc.

Looking at the football and the English Championship Playoff Final, the odds are very good. The 1X2 prices compile to 102.6% which is absolutely excellent and very competitive. The over/under and Asian handicap odds work out to 104-104.5%. Naturally boxing odds are a little bit less competitive with slightly bigger margins, and the Kell Brook v Errol Spence Jr moneyline worked out to 106.5% – still decent when compared other betting sites.

Ice hockey is a big sport in the Americas, and for each match there is the over/under and moneyline. These odds again compile to 104-104.5% which is better than the industry average.

BetMania Sports offer some strong odds on the major sports, with their prices for football matches being standout. As with many North American betting sites, they focus primarily on the moneyline, over/under and the spread (handicap) market. It would be nice to see extra bets such as total points, player specials etc. but Bet Mania appear to be a bookmaker for the bigger staking bettor prop bets etc. are usually confined to smaller stakes.

At present, BetMania only let their customers deposit and play using US Dollars.

Restricted Countries

BetMania are licensed in Costa Rica, which is perhaps laxer in its approach to regulation than other jurisdictions. The company do not have a list of countries where residents are restricted, rather they prefer to state that ‘since we cannot advice on the legality to gamble online in your jurisdiction, you should consult your local government authorities or a qualified attorney’. The company are basically saying that it is up to the client to determine whether what they are doing is legal, but in reality, they are inviting bettors from around the world to sign up. Customer services confirmed that BetMania do accept sign ups from the USA.

Betting On The Move

At first glance, the mobile app appears to be better than the desktop website. Everything fits into the homepage nicely, with a number of different scrolling graphics showing the promotions on offer. The login section is at the top of the website, and bettors can access the sportsbook via the menu which is located in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Within the sportsbook, there is definitely room for improvement. Again, the list of sports and the markets do no concisely fit into the screen on a handheld device and therefore bettors needs to scroll left and right to see all the odds. Mobile apps should be optimised so that everything fits neatly on the screen – so those users who want to bet on the go with BetMania might find it more challenging than they initially expected.

Verdict

BetMania Sports are one of a few bookmakers who offer their services to the US market. Their odds are not outstanding, but are competitive within the market place, and judging by their limits, they want to attract the serious bettor. As such, for the larger staking individual, they are recommended.
