12 Million+ Customers
The company uses famous French footballer Marcel Desailly as its ambassador, and claims to be active in over 100 countries with over 12 million customers. The website itself is available in 13 different languages, including Hungarian and Finnish, which makes Betclic a big player among European bookmakers.
The bookmaker has been online since 2005, and has developed a reputation for offering a huge range of competitive markets on European football. It covers most other sports too, such as Tennis, Rugby, Cricket, Darts, Ice Hockey, American Football and even Australian Rules football, but surprisingly there are no markets for horse racing, which will instantly put some punters off.
Another negative is the lack of a welcome bonus, but with regular ongoing promotions, good service, competitive odds, and 24 hour pay outs, Betclic Sports still has plenty to offer the betting community.
Bonuses & Promotions
One of the biggest disappointments has to be the lack of a welcome bonus. A quick internet search reveals that Betclic has offered various sign up bonuses in the past, ranging from £10-£50 (or equivalent currency), but at present they offer no welcome promotion to new bookmaker customers. There are fairly generous Casino and Poker sign up bonuses if that’s your thing, but these are not transferable to sports.
Hopefully this is something Betclic will address as it is not competitive with other online bookies, but at least there are regular ongoing promotions – some of which are advertised on the site, and some which are sent out via email newsletter; so make sure you subscribe during the registration process.
you are paid a bonus on winnings depending upon how many selections make up the accumulator
The current ongoing promotion for sports is a Multi+ offer, which will increase your winnings by up to 100% on qualifying accumulator bets. Selections can be from the majority of European football leagues, as well as some basketball and ice hockey leagues, and you are paid a bonus on winnings depending upon how many selections make up the accumulator.
This works on a sliding scale, so a five-fold will net an extra 5% on the returns, while an eleven-fold will bring you an extra 50%. Accumulators with 16 or more selections will qualify for the full 100% bonus.
Website and Mobile
One area where Betclic Sports does stand out is in the website design, which is crisp, clear and easy to navigate. The main sports are listed along the header menu, with handy drop down menus to lead you to individual events or leagues. There is also a very useful calendar section which allows you to preview all the upcoming sporting events, and filter results by date, competition, odds, and by specific sport.
Betclic don’t only offer sports betting, and if you like to dabble in other areas, there’s a casino, a live casino, and poker and games sections.
The mobile site is also swift and responsive, and can be accessed on any mobile device with web browsing capabilities. This means Android, Windows, and Blackberry users can all bet with Betclic via phone or tablet, while iPhone and iPad users can download purpose-built apps for the bookmaker and casino. The only negative to the mobile site is that live streaming is not available, but this is something that Betclic may try to improve upon in the future.
Betting Markets
The complete lack of horse racing markets will put some players off straight away, but the football markets are well covered and odds are competitive when compared with the best online bookies. All of the top leagues in Europe are covered, with a whole section dedicated to the Premier League, while many of the smaller divisions are also well catered for, including the Swedish, Polish and Norwegian Leagues.
In-play betting options are fully covered too, with a range of in-play markets to get involved in on various different sports. Betclic has obviously put a decent amount of work into design here too, and live in-running matches are complemented by stylish graphics and statistics so you can follow the action as you bet.
Deposits, Withdrawals and Service
There are plenty of ways to deposit to your Betclic Sports account, including VISA, Mastercard, Paypal, NETeller, Skrill and bank transfer among others. All of these options are free of charge for deposits, except credit card payments of less than 100 euros, which incur a 2% charge.
No fees are charged for withdrawals either, and although Betclic states that transactions can take up to three days, it also says that 95% of withdrawal requests are processed within 24 hours.
There is no telephone line for customer service but they are available via email or live chat. Average waiting time for a response via email is less than three hours, and live chat is available instantly between the hours of 10am and 7pm. It would be nice to see this extended to cover 24 hours a day, but from our experience, a live chat representative was ready to answer questions within seconds, and they were very professional.
You may find that you don’t even need to contact customer support to answer a query, as the Betclic website also features a comprehensive FAQ section which covers most general questions and account queries.
SBO Verdict
The two glaring omissions from Betclic are a welcome bonus and horse racing betting. With the addition of those two things, this would be up there with the very best betting sites around.
If those two drawbacks don’t concern you personally, then you can do much worse that open an account at Betclic, as it is easy to use, has a great reputation across Europe, and offers some of the most competitive odds on European football.
